Stabilising a platform supporting 170,000 students so The Wellbeing Hub could focus on what comes next
The client
The Wellbeing Hub is a digital platform providing expert-led mental health and wellbeing resources to school communities across the UK and internationally, supporting educators, parents, and students across more than 300 schools.
Opportunity
With over 170,000 students relying on the platform, The Wellbeing Hub was feeling pressure on systems that had served it well in its earlier days but had not been built for the scale it had reached. Response times were slowing, support bottlenecks were affecting users, and a lack of documentation meant the team had limited visibility over their own infrastructure. The platform was not failing, but it carried a risk that would only compound as demand grew.
The harder problem was not technical. It was that the team needed to be able to run and evolve the platform independently, prioritising stability for their users.
Approach
Elemental Concept partnered with The Wellbeing Hub to help them take back control of their tech. We started by resolving critical performance issues and introducing rapid response protocols to minimise disruption. Then we rebuilt key infrastructure components, creating a secure, scalable foundation to support both current users and future growth.
We also delivered a full technical audit and clear documentation, giving The Wellbeing Hub team clarity and control over their tech stack, and visibility over how their platform works.
Outcomes
The Wellbeing Hub now has a platform that can flex with demand, a support model that resolves issues before they reach users, and a documented, understood tech stack the team can manage and evolve on their own terms. Beyond ‘fixes’, this work was about establishing the foundation that makes sustainable growth possible, and making sure the team has the visibility to direct that growth themselves.
